My goodness! The new Tomb Raider game looks absolutely amazing! Lara has 1,700 acrobatic moves, 1,700. God I love that! There are so many new things that look great about TRU, I can’t even explain them properly. One of my favorite things is that the game will be darker and that Lara will get angry. Hell yeah, I couldn’t stand nice Legend Lara, the only time I liked her was in the final scene where she just got pissed and nearly shot her friend over a misunderstanding. Now that is the real Lara Croft.

Tomb Raider: 12 Years later
I really hope that they do it like Legend, where you can use the artifact as a weapon, it’d be SO awesome to use the Hammer of Thor!
Oh yeah, and isn’t the cover art amazing? The green colors of it and cutting off Lara’s head makes it look very dark and mysterious. While I love the cover, I hope they come out with a separate render, where they have Lara’s head on it. Or maybe two versions? One with the head cut off and the other with her head. I think it’s great though, you don’t need Lara’s head to show it’s Tomb Raider.

Heh, this post was actually supposed to be a rant on how people would say the Egyptian God “Anubis” is the god of the underworld. However, when I went and did a quick search of the god myself, I discovered that he was originally worshiped as the god of the underworld during the old kingdom in Hermopolis. The thing is though, Osiris became a much more popular underworld god quickly after.
In Egyptian mythology, Osiris was the king god of Egypt until his jealous brother, Set, murdered him and cut him up into little pieces. Also, Isis searched for his body parts and put them back together and then temporarily brought him back to life long enough for her to become pregnant(with Horus). It was in this same myth that Anubis created the first mummy, I’ll let you guess who that is. Anubis also became more widely known as the one who weighed your heart to judge whether you were a good person in life or not.
So is it really correct to say that Anubis is the god of the underworld or not?
Another example is the cat-headed goddess Bast. She was originally worshiped as a war goddess and the protector of Lower Egypt(just as Sekhmet was also a war goddess and protector of Upper Egypt). However, when Lower and Upper Egypt were united, Sekhmet took the role as war god(well, one of the many there were) and protector of Egypt while Bast became less fierce and more known for her nurturing for children and also becoming more known as a sun goddess (and moon goddess as a result of being identified with the Greek goddess of hunt, Artemis).
It is correct for Bast to be called a war goddess?
A last example would be the Greek goddess Selene, she was known as the moon goddess until Artemis somehow got associated with the moon and replaced Selene as the goddess of the moon.
Should Selene still be regarded a moon goddess?
Oh yeah, and there’s also the whole Helios and Apollo thing. Which one is the freaken sun god!?
It probably doesn’t even matter and it’s probably not wrong to still consider these gods with their original representations, but this was something random that I was thinking about. ![]()
