Taking a photo is not O.K.

Ecccck, my friends can be so annoying sometimes.
It started yesterday when I brought a few of my drawings to school, I wanted to ask the few who can draw(too) what they think; does one part need improving? What looks fine on it? Anyways, I showed one of my guy friends and he took one look at it and said.
“Anne’s a better drawer, her drawings are sick.”
Um ok, I did not ask you to compare my artistic skills to hers. Not to mention that (unfortunately) a lot of my friends are into anime/manga and most of them who draw draw manga, Anne included. I draw my figures realistically and proportionate and she draws hers cartoony, you can’t compare the two.
Anyways, I mentioned that I like drawing realistically and then I took out “Elektra: Introspect” which has an issue where Greg Horn rendered the interior pages. I showed my friend and Anne this, and Anne just said:
“Drawing realistically is stupid, just take a picture. It’s better cartoony.”
I was just like
“…….”
That was just an idiotic comment. She then went on to say that they should just get some girl(friend) to put on a costume and pose. I wanted to call her a fucken moron very badly.
So it’s easier to find and buy a good Elektra(or any hero) costume, find a female(or male) that looks similar to them, find co -characters, locations, drive there and pay for gas, hire someone to Photoshop imperfections out. Yeah, it’s a lot cheaper to edit out some acne, make the hair perfect, make the costume look perfect, give the hero( your girlfriend) bigger boobs and a more toned body on every single bloody panel she appears in.
Seriously, so she was saying to waste money (and time) on all those resources instead of just hiring a professional artist to draw and paint realistically on (a few special edition) comic book issues. And we all know that most comic book issues don’t have deadlines and editors don’t care if you take your sweet time taking all those photos.
*Sigh* some people are just morons.
[EDIT]Off topic but, does anyone know how much it costs for buying DVDs overseas? I’ve herd the shipping and handling is what’s expensive but does anyone know (from experience) just how much? can anyone give me an amount?
I don’t want my parents buying the DVDs for my birthday if it gets expensive
[/EDIT]

Don’t worry about the name thing. Maybe it was a temporary glitch ;). That girl sounds so mean. Some people can just be cruel :(.

this anne girl sounds very narrow minded and uneducated. don’t listen to her - she clearly has only one perspective, and that’s noithing to admire. as for the dvds, i think that it depends on where you’re buying them from, but if you’re buying them from a place like amazon or ebay or something, i think maybe 20 bucks would be the highest price (unless it’s some sort of never before seen version or something). hope that helps.

I noticed you were interested so I thought I’d leave a comment with regards to your questions
a few sites I have designed for are mainly fansites but I’m branching out after having come to understand how to validate pages and the like. I do coding and graphics and example of this would be my own fansites:
http://www.michaelchallfan.com
http://www.simonbakerfan.com
http://www.disarmdesigns.com is my web design site but I haven’t completed it yet. I am so lazy.
i get dvds from http://www.play.com and they ship overseas have a look and see.
And let no one put you down about your art only accept constructive criticism. You can draw whatever the frick you want

Your friend wasn’t a very kind person. You should ignore those comments, really. I prefer realistically draws too, it’s much more difficult than cartoons (just my opinion). I’ve spent a lot of time to draw a simple face, on the other hand a manga you can do in about 10min.
[2]Hey Alice, sorry bother you but i really need a favor. Could you do a gallery layout for my house md website? It’s ok if won’t be possible, thanks anyway.

I was thinking about the list of blog programs you gave me. Do you know of any that integrate into a website like cutenews? I’m putting up skims on my site, as you already know lol, and am starting to make layouts. I can put it on a separate page, but I wanted to ask you before I did so ;).

arghhhhh, anyways, you have a very inconsiderate friend, like everyone else has obviously mentioned above. I mean it’s good to get her opinion, but I mean it doesn’t mean you have to follow it or listen to it for all that matter. Unless they’re right, but in this case, no way.

Hm. Art for the purpose of art. Everything is art, and no one is able to judge art or its value, else the item would no longer be rightfully called art. That’s something my Art Teacher often quotes and when you think about it, she do has a point.
Although I often like drawing cartoons, I do prefer realistic drawings too. Saying taking a picture is better than drawing realistically, is very narrow-minded and plain stupid. Photography and drawing are too seperate forms of art, each have their value, but one should not mix the two of them together or compare them.

A PS towards AnMarie (I’m sorry if I’m spamming your weblog, Zatanna
hehe) FanUpdate integrates into a weblog the way Cutenews does but is way more secure.
But…WordPress still rocks my socks as King of the Weblog Systems.

I wasn’t going to close the site, lol. Just the blog. And yea, I do have a few comments here and there. But, I like it that way anyways. Some people have like 100+ every time they blog to return.
