Painter Rapes

I’ve had Corel Painter X(NOT Paint Shop Pro, they’re made by the same people though) for a long while and I haven’t used it until recently. The thing is actually for digital painting and here I am trying to use Photoshop to paint. I’m not saying Photoshop sucks, because it’s awesome and you can do so many things with it, including painting. However since you can use it for many things, it doesn’t really specialize in one area.

This is where Photoshop fails, and this is where Painter rapes it. It’s so much better than Photoshop! At first I couldn’t figure out how to blend things and after much searching for tutorials on DevianART, I found out that you just go to the Blend Brushes and pick one of the sub-brushes in there(most popular one: Just add Water). God that was such a n00b mistake LOL.

It’s easier to paint with Painter, because with Photoshop, you have to mess with the opacity and a whole bunch of other features to get the result you want. With painter you don’t have to. There are so many different brushes there like: chalk, pencils, pens, pastels, markers, crayons, and brushes. These also have sub-brushes for example, the pen brush has sub-brushes like ball point pens and pens that bleed. Painter is so awesome! ^_^

Oh yeah and, I’m barely in my first week of Spring Break(two week break) and I’m already bored. I couldn’t paint much this week because the area with the computer was being remodeled, thankfully he finished today! I couldn’t use my mac because Corel Painter Essentials is literally a watered down version of Painter X that’s only for home use. I got Painter Essentials with my tablet, Painter X came for the PC before I got the tablet. I can’t use it anyways because being my stupid self, I sent myself the “brush” folder from Painter X and replaced the Essentials brushes with that one. I ended up getting errors so I un-installed Painter and tried to install it again, but the serial only worked once!

Yes, I did not stop and think to make a copy of the original brushes and yes, I did not stop to think that the serial number would not work a second time.

I’m an idiot.

P.S. I gave up on my Troia drawing, I drew it too small so when I zoom in for details it gets blurry.
